A member of PFLAG in San Diego, CA noticed that in the past few years HGTV is including more and more “room mates” of the same sex as people that are part of their home improvement programs. Recently it appears HGTV is presenting couples in such a way that there is little or no doubt the viewer is seeing a gay or lesbian couple. This year a gay male couple had asked for assistance in staging their home for a quick sale. They had just recently adopted three boys and needed a larger home. Having gays and lesbians portrayed as having the same interest in creating a pleasant home as any other couple is important in the LGBT community finding its place in today’s society. If you want to see that HGTV continues in this type of programming it is suggested you let them now how you feel.
